'Incidental Street Contacting'

 Hello Everyone,

Short Version: We're now allowed to do what has been termed 'Incidental street contacting.' Street contacting is where you stop people and talk to them; 'incidental street contacting' is street contacting but it has some sort of coincidence to it. The goal is just to not talk to every single person we see, more just the people we feel inspired to talk to. So far, it's been super weird especially since neither Elder Sieverts or I have ever street contacted before. It's going to be a very interesting learning experience. Also it's freezing now. The weather decided to switch from sweaty hot to ice cold. The humidity eats right through all your clothes.

Thrift shopping with Elder Sieverts. None of the pants fit me.

More thrift shopping, sad to admit I didn't purchase this trench coat.

Long Version: Transfers rolled around and Elder Sieverts and I are staying together until at least November 16th. That's a total of 6 months together. It's a good thing we get along so well. Shenanigans with Elder Sieverts are unmatched.
Our facebook ads have been popping off. We had a bunch of older ladies who we've been calling and reading the Bible with. They're always so nice and patient with our language.
The cold is a new kind of cold. Humidity just freezes you to the bone. It's a weird experience because I've been in much colder temperatures but the humidity takes it to a whole new level. On the bright side, that means it's time for Hot Cocoa and Apple Cider. Somebody I know tells me it's only September but the weather is telling me it's Christmas time. Somebody listen to All I Want for Christmas is You/Soulja Boy remix for me, you'll thank me later.
Today is my Dad's birthday. Happy Birthday Dad. We share a brain so I figured it's only fair that he gets a shoutout in my weekly email. It's also Sadie's birthday coming up this week. The big 18!
Lithuania is doing pretty swell. We got a shipment of missionaries and had a Mission Tour. Elder Whiting, a general authority, came to each country and talked to each zone. He talked a lot about the need to expect to baptize more people. That was well needed because our expectations weren't too high. Send your prayers because we'll be working hard to find everyone who's ready for baptism in the Baltics. I also had the chance to have a personal interview with him. He chose 4 people from each country to interview with and for some reason he chose me. When he announced I was going to meet with him I immediately started to think of all the pranks I'd done since being in Lithuania, expecting to be scolded. But it was actually a super cool interview, though it was still really intimidating. I was afraid he'd ask personal questions because I knew I'd answer them honestly, how could you ever lie to a General Authority. He'd probably know you were lying before you said it. He gave me some really good advice and some things that I need to start doing. Intimidating start, smooth finish.
One really interesting part I (re)learned from the mission conference is from the introduction to the Book of Mormon. While it wasn't translated from the plates, it was still written by the prophet at the time. It says "Those who pursue this course and ask in faith WILL gain a testimony of its truth." Not that you can gain or might gain, that you will gain. That's not something I've always felt was true for me, that's been a shaky part of my testimony for a while but I've watched it grow while being on a mission. It's so important too. If you don't have as strong a testimony as you want, I'm here to tell you that it's yours for the taking IF you want it.

I've started wearing each of my ties for 22-23 days in a row. If I did my math correctly and stay true to my schedule, I will effectively use my ties as a countdown calendar. When I get to my last tie, it will be the last 22 days of my mission. So far, only two people noticed I've worn the same tie every day. This picture is when I got to switch from my blue stripe tie to my green stripe tie.
