Letters from the Baltic

  Hello Everyone! The Version: Happy one year to me! Crazy to think everything from here on will be my last. Like today is my last January 17th on a mission. Tomorrow will be my last January 18th on a mission. Days will start going a lot faster. They are already fast but I know they're going to start whizzing by. On to the story that is probably the craziest thing that's happened on my mission so far. Me and Elder Key were walking home from a teaching appointment and this drunk guy started cussing us out in Russian. Hmmm, does Elder Smith know Russian swear words... Don't worry about it, it was an accident. Anyways, we speed up our pace but lo and behold, so does the drunk guy. He keeps yelling and is asking us why we're not responding to him. We briefly turn to him and tell him, "sorry we don't understand what you're saying. We don't speak Russian or Lithuanian."   Voice Message #2 Hello, everybody! Making another voice recording because people liked it, and I can speak much quicker than I can type, so it makes it easier for me too. I don’t think I’ve written one for a little bit. So for Christmas -well, let’s start with Christmas Adam. Which, if you don’t know what Christmas Adam is, Christmas Adam is the day before Christmas Eve. My companion has a very great tradition of eating ribs on the night of Christmas Adam. So we had ribs, but unfortunately, we do not have a lot of cooking supplies, and so the best thing that we had was a large metal mixing bowl. We had to use our metal mixing bowl to make ribs, but they actually turned out pretty good. For Christmas Eve, we just kind of had a regular day, and then we didn’t even have dinner on Christmas Eve, which was kind of sad. We just forgot to eat dinner that day.  And then Christmas!   Voice message sent Mon Dec 13 th , 2021 “Why hello, everyone. We’re trying a new format today, so I hope you enjoy it. And I think I’ll still do the short version and the long version, but I just don’t have time to write it all out today, and I figured since it’s been a pretty long time since I wrote one, then I should do something.  So here I am, out in Lithuania, just freezing – right now it’s -6 – and it’s really cold and I forgot my hat and I’m waiting for a bus. So that’s about how life goes these days.  So short version: I am still in Vilnius. Elder Seiverts has left me, I was with him for six months, and he left to a different city, I stayed here. I was in a trio for a little bit with Elder Cropper, who was a brand-new missionary straight from the MTC, and Elder Key.
