Letter from President Huff

 Dear Missionaries,

  We are so excited to have you come to your originally assigned mission!  Sister Huff and I just arrived in Riga, Latvia a few hours ago with the group that preceded you!  So, in a matter of hours, our mission size more than doubled as we brought into Riga 25 missionaries that had been reassigned and added them to the 14 that were here in the field. 

   You are to leave your current missions on Thursday, April 8th, and arrive in Croatia Friday, April 9th.  There are a few things that we would like to you do to prepare to come next week.  You will also be receiving some instructions from the Missionary Travel Department. 

 

  1. If they ask you to fill out a “Enter Croatia” application online, please disregard this.  We will fill this out for you. 
  2. Bring at least two passport pictures with you when you come.
  3. Let your credit card company know that you will be traveling through Croatia, into Latvia and the Baltic Countries. 
  4. Please let us know if you have any allergies, including food allergies, or other dietary restrictions.
  5. Please pack one checked bag with all of the items you will need to live for the two weeks you will be in Croatia, as there is not enough room at the hotel to store extra luggage. 
  6. The other checked bag we will store at the church and pick it up when you leave for Riga two weeks later.
  7. In the checked bag you will live out of, make sure to include some p-day clothes and exercise clothes if you would like.

 

The hotel you will be staying in is reserved just for us, as you will need to isolate for a week after you receive a COVID test upon arrival and a week later.  It is on 2 acres that is gated off and all of your meals will be catered to the hotel.  We will arrange language classes while you are here.  These are native speakers and have loved working with the group that just arrived here in Riga.  Soon after you get settled, I will arrange an interview with each of you over Zoom, so that I can get to know you and work on your transfer situation once you come to Latvia.

  Begin brushing up on your language.  It will help as you prepare to arrive in the Baltics to be more effective in your teaching and finding. 

 

  Sister Huff and I are so excited to have you come and are looking forward to meeting each of you!  We will be sending you some documents soon that you will need to print off and bring with you in order to arrive in Croatia.

Dear Missionaries,

   So, I mentioned that we will be sending out some information that you will need to print out and bring with you when you come to Croatia.  That will not be until sometime tomorrow as Croatia with the rest of Europe celebrates Easter for two days +, and therefore today is Easter Monday and a holiday for them.  The Croatian Government is the one who sends out the Enter Croatia documents and they hopefully will get those to us to get to you before tomorrow evening our time.  Once I get them, I will send them your way with the instructions you will need to have to print them out and bring them. 

  There is one more thing you can do now and that is to get your phones unlocked so that we can put new sim cards in them once you arrive in Latvia.  You may need to talk with your parents to see that this is done.  Also, please don’t forget to get 4 copies of a passport picture of you as we will need them once you get to Latvia as well.  Don’t forget to pack them with you. 

   So, look for an email from me tomorrow, and we will also send out some travel group leaders tomorrow as well.

Week 34- Tut Tut, Looks like Rain

  Hello Everybody, Short Version: The fall rainy season is starting. Sometimes there is a continual rain that goes all day and makes me feel like a vegetable in the produce aisle that gets that slight, yet continual shower of mist. Week 92 - "Caged Bird" (ft. Maya Angelou)

Hello Everyone! I'm super stoked!!! I'm going to Kaunas which means I'm leaving the office and heading back to Lithuania. A weird thing about being in the office is that I've been able to see the transfer board which shows where all the missionaries are going on future transfers. So I've actually known for a month or two that I've been going back but haven't been able to to tell anyone about it. It's going to be so nice to use Lithuanian again. I feel like I'm ready. I hope it's not too rusty but I'm sure it will bounce back really quickly.  The last couple of days, Elder Sieverts has been in Riga. He's going home tomorrow so Rest in Peace. Elder Yeyna too, and a few others missionary friends. Being with Elder Sieverts has been a blast. This last Sunday I bore my testimony in Russian. Week 11- The Three Great Commandments

  Hello Everybody!      Week one in the field has been amazing. I'm serving in Indiana currently, Elder Jones and Tapp are showing me the ropes. We've been teaching like crazy it seems like.       There have been so many people on Facebook or over the phone or in person that we want to contact. We don't have enough time to reach all the people we want to. That is a very good problem for us to have.       We had a baptism with Mia which was great! Hooray for baptisms. We have another baptism with Abbey coming up this Saturday. Our zone will have had 1 baptism each week for the month of March.      The diversity here compared to Tri Cities is so drastic. A lot of times, me and my companions are the only white people around. Our area covers a wide variety of people ranging from people living in small run down homes with little to nothing, to families in Gigantic houses that seem like Castles almost. Seeing everyone'...
